![]() At the end of the podcast they specifically state that if you have a fat ski and you're planning on dropping cliffs, you should go with the Ions not the Zeds. Then wrap the leash around the arm of the toe shim and through the loop so that its secured to the binding. To attach the leash to your binding, thread the looped end through an opening of the toe shim. Wide freeride mount transfers power to the ski & provides pull-out resistance. Includes coated wire boot connector loops. ![]() I'd recommend listening to this podcast ( ) with the Zed engineers, but essentially they went with a really stripped down binding to focus on weight, then skiability, for folks that are doing ski mountaineering/more mellow touring. Easy to install and use with any ski boot. Please try searching for a new item or choose a similar item. They're not great in variable snow cause they have no elasticity and the brakes are wonky (they work, but when they're not in the up locked position they tend to rattle). The wide center support of the turret and a metal wrap-around base transfer power and precision to the ski. Its lightweight enough for the longest of days and robust enough to be skied with confidence. They are easy to use, reliable, I've had no pre-releases but the bindings released when I needed them to, and they ski pretty well in soft snow. G3s ZED is the best tech binding out there in my opinion. I have a pair of Zeds and I've been happy with them. Leashes, brakes, and stomp pad sold separately. A better comparable with the Dynafit Rotations would be the G3 Ions, whereas the Zed comparable is the Dynafit TLT Speed. The ZED defines the next evolution of high-performance touring bindings. Another pair, a newer production Zed has been fitted with different springs and this prevents the heel piece from moving aft while in uphill mode. Three pair of Zeds are first year production and do occasionally slip back when risers are used. It really depends what you're after, as the Zeds and the Rotations aren't super comparable. I use both Zed and Ion LT systems, all with leashes.
